1) Cappellini Wins Qatar UIM F1

DOHA, Qatar – Italian Guido Cappellini took his Tamoil sponsored boat to it’s 2nd win of the season and it’s 2nd in four races in Doha and now leads the 2007 U.I.M. F1 World Championship for power boating by 15 points with two races left to run on the season after taking victory at today’s 4th Grand Prix of Qatar on the cornice in downtown Doha.

The 48 year-old driver from Como, Italy set the pace of the race from the very start and never looked back winning by 4.92 seconds over Emriates Team driver Thani Al Qamzi who came into the event having won two of the last three events and had moved 10 points back of the 9-time World Champion. Cappellini’s win moves him farther in front of the race, but now the series moves to Al Qamzi’s home waters beginning a week from Friday on the 7th of December in Abu Dhabi.

2) Seebold Captures 5th Title With 3rd In Savannah

SAVANNAH, Georgia – Tim Seebold did enough to reach the podium for the 4th time this season and capture his 5th F1-ChampBoat Grand Prix Series title and his first since 2004 at the 6th and final round of the championship in front of thousands of fans along the Savannah River in downtown Savannah, Georgia.

While the native of St. Louis was cruising around in 3rd place and finishing 49 of the 50 laps around the 1.0 mile (1.62 kilometer) 4-turn course, the battle up front was having the race fans standing and cheering all race long. Terry Rinker in his Amsoil sponsored Lee craft boat led from the pole and held onto every lap despite being challenged hard in the early stages by young star Shaun Torrente of Miami, Florida who came charging up from 10th to 2nd only to have his race day end quickly when his steering went on the 11th lap.

Chris Fairchild of Paw Paw, Illinois, who was 2nd in the championship and needed points badly, was looking for his 2nd win on the Savannah River after winning upstream at Augusta, Georgia back in May. He pushed Rinker hard for most of the race getting as close as side by side at the halfway mark only to get washed down and losing his pace and falling back to secure 2nd place in the race and 2nd in the championship as well.

Tim Seebold wins the title with 3207 points or 78 more than 2nd place Chris Fairchild and 79 more than Terry Rinker who finished 3rd. The win for Rinker was his 17th career victory moving him into 3rd all-time in the F1-ChampBoat Grand Prix Series totals ahead of legionary Bill Seebold’s 16.

3) Evinrude introduces most powerful outboard engine yet - E-Tec 250HO

Launched in Europe at the Genoa Boat Show 2007, the new Evinrude E-TEC 250 hp High Output (H.O.) engine combines exceptional power with its lightweight design to allow boaters to make faster hole shots and increase top speed on a variety of boats, from large RIBs to power boats.

The proven high power and low weight of Evinrude E-TEC engines continues into 2008 with the new 250 H.O., which is an incredible 128 lbs (58 kg) lighter than competitive engines at the same horsepower. The lightweight design contributes to the impressive torque and acceleration of the engine and also makes for less draft and improved boat handling, less stress on the boat transom, and improved fuel efficiency.

Adding to the fuel efficiency of the 250 H.O., the Engine Management Module works together with a fully stratified combustion system to provide the exact amount of fuel needed to create the power. The combustion system also plays a fundamental role in keeping emissions low; ensuring low carbon monoxide emissions as well as ensuring fuel charge never escapes the combustion chamber. Innovative features on the 250 H.O. include a high speed, nose cone; Lightning(T) gear case, manufactured from the toughest grade metals and alloys for increased strength and performance. Enhanced calibration and a patent-pending fast rise ignition system delivers smooth running at every RPM range. Iridium spark plugs, improved cylinder sleeve design, and enhanced fuel injectors all contribute to the durability and longevity of the Evinrude E-TEC.

The advanced two-stroke direct injection technology that is E-TEC ensures that all Evinrude E-TEC engines meet the European Union emissions standards that went into effect on 1st January 2007 as well as the CARB (California Air Resources Board) 3-star designation for Ultra Low Emissions.

4) First UIM title for Csako at European 0-700 Championship

Ferenc Csako (AUT) VRP/ASV took his first UIM title with the European 0-700 at Znin, Poland.  The race was postponed from Jedovnice, because of low water levels. All the boats racing were powered by VRP engines, but the Italians, 2007 World champion Tiziano Trombetta and Mauro Bacchi were missing. Attila Havas (AUT) VRP/ASV who has won the title in the two previous years qualified in pole from Glebas Sobciukas (LIT) VRP/ASV with the 500 engine, then Holger Kluge (GER) VRP/ASV.

Havas could retain his title only if he beat Csako with a faster race time having 1000 points compared to Csako’s 1100. When the lights went out it all seemed over for Havas’s motor failed to fire. Csako was round the first buoy before Havas was away. The defending champion was not giving up easily and chased after Csako, who also made a slight mistake at a buoy turn on lap 6. Havas closed to just 3 seconds at the chequered flag but had to settle for the silver medal, with Holger Kluge taking the bronze. After over 20 years of racing the popular Budapest driver Ferenc Csako took his first European UIM title with maximum points.

5) Supercar on Water!

The XSR48, described as a supercar on water, is a luxury powerboat with supercar looks. With two powerful bi-turbo diesel engines or twin petrol engine ranging from 1410 to 2400 horse power (hp) and a range of 345 miles/555 kilometers, the XSR48 can boost a supercar acceleration to match its stunning appearance. The XSR48 will be manufactured by the XS Marine Group at the internationally renowned Berthon Shipyard in Lymington, U.K. and will be sold at a price of just over 1,000,000 British Pounds.

The XSR48 has been developed as a collaboration of several world-class designers and construction partners, including hull designer Fabio Buzzi, award winning super-yacht designers Redman Whiteley Dixon, and High Modulus (a  leading expert on composite marine structures). Over 55,000 man hours were put into the development of the XSR48, with designers, naval architects, craftsmen and engineers exploring every aspect of the hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, aesthetics, ergonomics, propulsion, power and performance.

The XSR48 is the result of the experience and proven success of Ian Sanderson and Peter Dredge, founders of XS Marine Group. Sanderson and Dredge, who have broken 11 world records together, won the world's toughest powerboat racing championship in 2001 (The European Endurance Championship) and have been awarded the prestigious RYA 'Yachtsman of the Year' award no-less than three times. Depending on the engine choice, the XSR48 will be able to reach a top speed of 109mph/175kph and will cost a bit more than 1-million British Pounds.
